Okay and we're back
And here's how it looks from the inside
But enough about Magusar's decorating style
Last time we were just about to read: "The Sorcerer's Ordeal"
As far as most mission screens go it's not much different than most
So We're gonna hunt some
goblins at
Lake AndromedaLet's do this
Sometimes when doing story related missions we will read the words of the sorcerer writing in the journal
When not doing a story mission it will usually put in some mostly useless tips
This is Sortiara, our partner for the current time. She'll help us on story missions that involve her.
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/zNJJMZm.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""><br><br>Here's our character again<br><br>Now would be a good time to explain the area a bit<br><br><b>Lake Andromeda</b> is a frozen oasis in the middle of the desert, with massive chains interspersed. Sometimes an icy breeze that freezes your character and monsters will sweep across the field.<br><br>Now we have three new offerings here.<br><br>The black palm. This is an... interesting offering. It gives off a shotgun-like spread of projectiles towards your enemy, it is one of the most speedy attacks in the game. It can also be used an unlimited amount of times. The catch? The projectiles are your blood. There ARE specific offering combinations that can make blood offerings among the best in the game, but we do not have them yet. So the blood offering is shit for early game.<br><br>The white bones. This is another melee offering in the same vein as the sword. This one is slower but deals more damage than the sword. It's called the "Giant's arm" and increases the size of your arm exponentially. If you hold the attack button it will charge up for one big punch.
The blue root. This is another weird one. You charge a ball of energy in your hands, the longer the charge the more powerful and longer ranged the attack is. The attack itself sends a homing shockwave across the ground at an enemy.
Well here are those Goblins we're supposed to kill, let's kill one and-
So this is one of the main features of the game. When you defeat an enemy they revert to their "true" form.
Then you have a choice to make:
Save them and give them a second chance at life, but at the risk of them turning into a monster once more. Or
Sacrifice and absorb their soul and consciousness into your right arm, at the cost of your sanity.
In the game this mechanic serves about three purposes. It increases your Life or Magic. Life increases your defense, and Magic increases your attack. Having high levels in either gives out bonuses that I will talk about later. You can have a combined level of 100 for life and magic
While you are in the Avalon faction Sacrificing enemies will renew your offerings. Each offering has a limited number of uses EXCEPT for blood offerings, so you will need to do this as long as you are in Avalon. Saving restores a small amount of health. I will talk about the other faction when it comes up.
The final purpose is something that will come up later
But nothing really important happens besides us killing some Goblins, let's continue.
"This journal can be altered slightly. Only certain, special pages, of course""Here, let me show you"<img src="http://i.imgur.com/A7OG8Jg.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""></b><br><br><b>"But this is a portrait that can be retouched""Thus changing the appearance of the sorcerer in the stories"So this is when we get to change our character's appearance. Right now we don't have many of the cool outfits like the gasmask or the plague doctor. I'll spare you mostof the mechanics about this, it's pretty straightforward.
So this is our new character!
<img style="max-width:100%;" src="http://i.imgur.com/327j399.jpg" alt=""><br><br><b>"But we can't very well leave it blank. Fill in your own name, will you?"</b>
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/Ki6fHvd.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""></b><br><br><b>"No one will mind if you smudge them out of existence"
So I wipe his eye and a... clear... white... fluid appears on my finger
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/vD5eQvj.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""><br><br><b>"you can use it to erase portions of the records within me""But only parts of them, mind you""New droplets will form again in time. Check back now and then""Oh, and by the way...""These are not tears, you miserable troll"So an explanation on the tears, or as it is officially called, Lacrima. It gets created each time you finish a quest, more depending on how hard it is. It is used to change certain things like your name in the journal. By the end of the game you will be ROLLING in Lacrima.
Also, you can manually flip the pages of Librom but...
But if a page is not unlocked, we only get these chilling messages from the author
For now I'll go with this. You can only equip two offerings of the same type (Two arms, two swords, etc.)
One thing I recommend is bringing two healing based offerings
But let's get back to the story of the sorcerer
So Orcs, the beefy common mob. As you can see in the picture they have a very strange ability, they eat souls that are on the battlefield. If they successfully eat one they will increase in power and size.
They are also cats. This game gives hard choices.
Not much really happens in this either. Let's move on.
Librom interrupts us
"You would do well to pay attention to her"
"She'll have an impact on our author"
Next time when I post the next entry, we will see the burden of a sorcerer
See ya
